I would like to thank you for your support and for electing me as your new President, effective July 1, 2017. I look forward to serving all members in the upcoming years. The survey is seeking opinions to help students achieve their full potential, the mobilization of partners and stakeholders in support of educational success and developing a favourable context for student learning, personal development and success. The French version of the 2015-2020 teacher’s provincial collective agreement is available online here. The English translation of the agreement is not yet available. ESTA will notify its union delegates once the translation and print copies of the agreement is available.
The Eastern Shores School Board priority of employment list (youth sector) and recall list (adult and vocational education) have been updated and are now available. It is important to verify the teacher seniority lists and notify the union office within forty (40) working days to correct any errors or omissions. Copies of the list can be found in the following places:
- School/centre bulletin boards
- On the ESTA website under the “Members” tab (ask your union delegate for the password)
- Requesting a copy from your school/centre administrator or the school board’s Human Resources Department
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
The ESTA Nominations Committee (Jan Patterson and Pam Patterson) is hereby giving notice of an election for the following ESTA Executive position.
Nominations are invited for the following positions on the ESTA Executive. These positions will expire on June 30, 2018.
- 1st Vice President
- 2nd Vice President
- 2nd Member-at-Large

During a recent general vote of the membership of the Eastern Shores Teacher Association, a vote was conducted to ratify the Agreement in Principle. The results are as the following:
YES: 113 (91%)
NO: 11 (9%)
TOTAL VOTES: 124
Therefore, the members have votes IN FAVOUR of accepting the Agreement in Principle. I would like to thank all those who participated in the vote.
Question: When will teaching jobs be posted for the 2015-2016 school year?
Answer: Before April 30th of each year, the board shall post in each of its schools a provisional list of the board-wide teaching staff needs which remain to be met for the following school year, indicating the pertinent information. (Reference: ESSB-ESTA local agreement clause 5-21.15 a)
