Re: Executive election results

As members of the Nominations Committee for the executive elections, we declare the results of the executive elected as follows:

For the position of president:

  • Louise Drapeau –  President (29% of the votes)
  • Gillian Garrett –  President (71% of the votes)

For the position of 1st Member-at-Large:

  • Averill McWhirter-Huxter (44% of the vote)
  • John Prince – 1st Member-at-Large (56% of the vote)

As members of the Nominations Committee for the executive elections, we declare the elected to be: Gillian Garrett (President) and John Prince (1st Member-at-Large). Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to all candidates for your interest in our association.

The ESTA Executive will consists of the following people as of July 1, 2017:

  1. Gillian Garrett – President – until June 30, 2019
  2. Vacant – 1st Vice-President – until June 30, 2018
  3. Erin Ross – 2nd Vice-President – until June 30, 2018
  4. Adele Flowers – Secretary-Treasurer – until June 30, 2019
  5. John Prince – 1st Member-at-Large – until June 30, 2019
  6. Ruth Copping – 2nd Member-at-Large  – until June 30, 2018

It is worth noting that the position of 1st Vice-President will become vacant on July 1, 2017 since Ms. Gillian Garrett currently holds that position. As a result, a by-election will be necessary sometime in the future.

Darlene Roberts – 1st Member-at-Large (acclaimed)

Congratulations to Gillian and Darlene for their appointments to the Executive of the Eastern Shores Teachers Association. As a result, the ESTA Executive now consists of the following people:

Gillian Garrett, 1st Vice President (term ends June 30, 2014)
Jean Francois Arbour, 2nd Vice President (term ends June 30, 2014)

Following the recent Constitutional referendum on revising the number of ESTA executive members, the results are as follows: 87  votes in favour; 4 votes against. Therefore, the Executive will now consist of six (6) members and an election will be called next week to fill the vacant position. Thank you to all union delegates for conducting the referendum in your schools and centres. Thank you, also, to all those who voted.

The Nominations Committee (comprised of Christine Piercey and Pamela Patterson) have declared the elected candidates to the Executive for the 2013-2014 term to be:

  • Ray Venables – President (acclaimed)
  • Adele Flowers – Secretary-Treasurer (acclaimed)
  • Vacant – 1st Member-at-Large

Congratulations to the above candidates for their appointments to the Executive of the Eastern Shores Teachers Association. As a result, the ESTA Executive now consists of the following people:

Although there was some interest by a number of teachers for the 1st Member-at-Large position, the Nominations Committee did not receive any election statements before today’s 3 p.m. deadline.

On Thursday, May 3 at the QPAT Provincial Council (a.k.a. AGM), the Nominations Committee declared the following elected or acclaimed to the QPAT Executive Committee for 2012-2014:

Richard Greschner, Treasurer
David Walker, Secretary
John Donnelly, Member-at-Large
Ruth Rosenfield, Member-at-Large
Ray Venables, Member-at-Large

I would like to thank all of those who supported me during this election. As I said in my election statement, I will do my best to help support our President and to work closely with the executive to ensure that QPAT represents the province’s anglophone teachers and the teaching profession.
